Who we are

​D & T Independent Housing Company is a 501 (C) 3 non-profit organization founded by Dorrian Harden Sr and Tasha Hufford. The founders are working toward creating a robust and successful organization that has one task... to help veterans and elderly live dignified and healthy lives. In Dayton alone, the rise of veteran's and elderly homelessness has been shocking!  For Dorrian and Tasha doing something about it is not a hobby, it is their life's work. They have been committed for years to take our veterans and elderly off the streets and into housing that they can call home. 

With their non-profit D&T Independent Housing Company, they are now able to deliver shared living and single family homes that not only help the veterans or elderly live with dignity but also receive the support they need. Their D&T model is changing the landscape for the homeless and Dorrian and Tasha are on the forefront of not just giving our veterans and seniors a home, but also providing comprehensive support services to address the resident’s unique needs.

Their backgrounds bring a unique blend of expertise to the organization. With a background in the nursing field, Tasha brings extensive experience in healthcare, compassionate care, and understanding the complex needs of vulnerable populations.  Her nursing background informs their approach to providing quality housing and support services to homeless veterans and elderly individuals, ensuring their physical and mental well-being is prioritized. 

Dorrian has dedicated his career to providing affordable housing, and started the company to solve a problem in his community. Dorrian brings a wealth of knowledge and experience from the trucking industry. His expertise in logistics, operations management, and transportation adds invaluable skills to our organization. This background is particularly beneficial in efficiently managing the logistical aspects of our operations, such as transportation for residents, supply chain management for essential resources, and optimizing our overall efficiency.

Together, their backgrounds complement each other, allowing us to approach the challenges of housing homeless veterans and elderly people with a holistic perspective. We combine the compassion and care of the nursing field with the efficiency and strategic thinking of the trucking industry to create a well-rounded approach to serving the community.
